Geraci Law Attorney Jason Kara Reports: Client brought her two and five-year-old daughters, both of whom fell asleep during the consultation. At the end of the consultation, I walked the client to her car, held the office door and opened the car doors so that she could put her sleeping kids in the car seats without waking them.
Geraci Law Attorney Sharon Hunt Reports: A Trustee wanted to continue a meeting because the Social Security number in his system did match the client’s card. The Trustee demanded that we amend the petition so creditors could get proper notice. I showed that the SSN on the petition matched the SSN on client’s card. The Trustee admitted his mistake and agreed to proceed.
Geraci Law Attorney Laura Caputo Reports: A single mom of two filed a Chapter 13 and was assigned to a Trustee who normally requires everyone to turn over their entire tax refund every year. She dropped by the office to request to keep $1,000 of her $3,000 refund to catch up on her ComEd bill. Debtor's car needed maintenance, too, but she did not have time to get a quote. I called Jiffy Lube and got a quote for some of the maintenance, and while I was on the phone with them, the client remembered that she had a recent quote from her dealership in her glove compartment. She brought it inside and we were able to provide sufficient information for her to request to keep around half of her tax refund.
Geraci Law Attorney Mariusz Zatorski Reports: An older client came to an appointment a day early to "finish his business" because he's going to a hospital tomorrow. He had just found out that his lung cancer had returned, and he was going in for surgery the next day. I thanked him for coming in and told him we'll give him a discount as a sign of good will, and to help him through this difficult time. He was very appreciative and said he will recommend us highly to others. A couple of hours later he came back saying that his friend, who owns a laundromat, saw my business card and wanted a few extra to hand out to his customers. The laundromat owner said she knows a lot of people who need our help.
Geraci Law Attorney Megan Hayes Reports: Our client came in for his initial visit to discuss bankruptcy options and left his wallet on the PACE bus! I called PACE and they dispatched me to the correct location. I was able to hunt his wallet down for him.
Geraci Law Attorney David Lugardo Reports: I showed an elderly client how to use the text functions on his flip phone. After a few tries, my 2003 keypad texting skills returned and he was grateful for the lesson. He will go home and practice.
Geraci Law Attorney Brent Berning Reports: I got on the phone with a bank and helped a client set up an appointment to cancel her bank account and set up something new so that payday loans would stop taking her Social Security check.
Geraci Law Attorney Marc Affolter Reports: Client struggles with a physical disability that requires the use of a walker. After our consultation I gave him our folder with all of his information in it, but he could not carry it while using his walker. I walked him all the way out to the parking lot, holding every door open along the way, and helped him into his car. Geraci Law service knows no bounds!
